Description
N-Acetyl Selank is an N-terminally acetylated analog of Selank β a synthetic heptapeptide originally developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow as a synthetic analog of the natural immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin (a 4-amino-acid fragment of IgG Fc heavy chain, residues 289-292). Selank itself adds a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension to the tuftsin sequence for peptidase resistance; N-Acetyl Selank further extends plasma stability through N-terminal acetylation, which protects against degradation by aminopeptidases. The compound is studied as a research analog for comparative pharmacology versus standard Selank, with particular focus on extended-half-life peptide engineering and SAR studies of N-terminal modifications in short heptapeptides. N-Acetyl Selank has been investigated in preclinical research literature for tuftsin receptor binding, BDNF gene expression endpoints, GABAergic signaling pathway markers, and comparative peptide stability research. Like Selank, the compound is studied here primarily as a research tool for tuftsin-class peptide pharmacology rather than as a defined receptor agonist.
