Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide consisting of the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro (TKPRPGP), developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow as a synthetic analog of the natural immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin (a 4-amino-acid fragment of IgG Fc heavy chain, residues 289-292). Selank extends the tuftsin sequence with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide that confers peptidase resistance and extended plasma stability compared to natural tuftsin.
