Description
AOD-9604 is a synthetic modified analog of the C-terminal region of human growth hormone (hGH), consisting of the natural hGH(177-191) sequence with an N-terminal tyrosine substitution. Developed by Metabolic Pharmaceuticals (Australia) and originally investigated through Phase 2 clinical trials for obesity research, AOD-9604 was designed to selectively retain the lipolytic / metabolic activity of full-length growth hormone while eliminating its IGF-1βstimulating and glucose-modifying effects. Unlike intact hGH which activates the GH receptor and downstream IGF-1 axis, AOD-9604 is studied as a “lipolytic-selective” fragment that engages metabolic and adipose tissue pathways without the broader anabolic and insulin-modulating consequences of GH receptor activation. The compound has been investigated in preclinical research for adipocyte biology, fatty acid oxidation, lipolysis pathways, cartilage biology, and metabolic energy expenditure across both cell-culture and rodent obesity research models.
